Our Mission and Vision

The Executive Director and the board of Congress Heights Main Streets (CHMS) are inspired by the possibilities of economic growth in Ward 8, but especially Congress Heights Main Streets.

CHMS is uniquely positioned to create thriving economic revitalization on the MLK corridor. Our work is predicated on the successful outcome of façade renovations, building the capacity of new business and improving physical and fiscal management opportunity for existing business owners.

The Congress Heights Main Streets efforts will flourish based on prominent partnerships with local businesses, the DC Chamber of Commerce, Washington DC Economic Partnership, the Ward 8 Business Council, the Anacostia Coordinating Council and the Ward 8 Workforce Development Council in the community.

Congress Heights Main Streets works in partnership with the business community, property owners and residents to foster economic development and improve the business corridor as well as to attract new business and create a flourishing commercial and retail environment in the Congress Heights district and its neighboring business communities.
